This week Dave and Wendy answer the following question from Joe via email:

I am interested in entering a 2 day race next year that consists of a 50 mile mountain bike race on Saturday followed by trail marathon on Sunday. I am considering buying your “Ironman 70.3 Training Plan for Beginners: 16 weeks” but have a couple of questions.

Question 1: Considering that I will not swim in my race (no interest), should I just keep the plan as-is and just take out the swim workouts? Or perhaps, I should modify it in additional ways?

Question 2: Considering that this race is not until August 2018 and that I am not in racing shape or weight, should I start with the “Ironman 70.3 Training Plan for Beginners: 16 weeks” plan then stack the “Ironman Training Plan for Beginners: 16 weeks”? That would put me right at 8 month mark.

Regards, Joe
